The detector detects smoke using an infrared emitter and a photodetector. The elements are mounted in a special chimney. In the basic state, the photodetector cannot see the signal of the infrared emitter, but when smoke particles enter the chamber, the photodetector detects the signal due to reflections. If there is a lot of smoke, the reflection of the beam becomes strong, the photodetector receives a signal from the emitter and sends a fire alarm signal to the control panel.
